Editorial policy & disclosures

A resource about online reviews should be unusually clear about how its own recommendations are produced.

✓ Practical guidance✓ Real examples✓ Independent resource

A healthier review program

Design for authenticity instead of engineering a perfect rating.

✓ Do

Ask genuine customers. Use neutral wording. Make the destination direct. Welcome honest experiences. Verify current platform rules.

× Avoid

Buying sentiment. Inventing reviews. Asking only likely promoters. Rewarding a required rating. Pressuring critics into silence.

Research approach

We prioritize primary sources for rules and policies, including official Google Business Profile guidance and Federal Trade Commission materials. Product claims should be verified against current vendor documentation before publication.

AI-assisted drafting

AI tools may assist with research organization, drafting and editing. That does not change our standard: factual claims should be supportable, examples should be clearly presented as examples, and invented personal experience should never be passed off as evidence.

Commercial relationships

At launch, SMSReviews is not a software vendor and this resource is not built around paid rankings. If affiliate relationships, sponsorships or lead-generation arrangements are introduced later, material relationships should be disclosed prominently on affected pages.

Corrections and updates

Platform policies and regulations change. We prefer updating evergreen guides over creating duplicate articles with a new year in the title. Material corrections should improve the page itself.

Independence

SMSReviews may link to third-party tools when useful. A link is not automatically an endorsement. Named comparisons should use stated criteria rather than undisclosed payment as the ranking method.
